Question:
Does a country like this exist, and if it doesn't, why shouldn't it?

I would like to live in a country different to what dominates our world today, here is its mantra, it is:
-A place that strives to leave no carbon footprint WHATSOEVER
-A place where religion does not affect politics.
-A place where religion does not affect me or the children of the religious ( unless they themselves choose to follow that path.)
-A place that supports complete renewable energy
-A place with a democratic, 'Alternative Voting' system, as opposed to first past the post
-A healthy, welfare state that encourages people to try their best but supports those who can't
-A place that borders on, or is based on socialism while keeping competetive markets
-A place with a free health service
-A government that can support itself and doesn't rely on foreign oil barons etc.
-A place where only the military, specialised police units and members of the public who have gone through rigorous testing can own a firearm.
-A police force that takes proper action against violent protests and respects peaceful protest.
-A country that supports diversity including any race, belief (which does not threaten the people and does not take priority in politics), age, gender, ethnicity etc.
-A place that allows free speech but disallows threatening and dangerous speech
-A place that fully supports the future generations, science, technology and the Earth as an important point in politics
-A place that does not pump its money into wars abroad for fake promises, oil, wealth and power.
A non-elitist society that is just, friendly and forward thinking.

-I am 16 years old and live in the United Kingdom. Would a place like this be found in northern Europe? (Denmark, Norway, the Netherlands etc.)

Oliver Ward;

You are seeking a nation not inhabited by human beings. In reality, any politician would swear to believe in your criteria.

Most of Scandinavia would qualify.

My country is Norway.

We have little corruption, the police is generally considered polite and nonviolent, we've been awarded with "most democratic nation on the planet" several times, most our electricity comes from water, religion is considered fairy tales by the general population (seriously, I know ONE religious person), racism is low (more prevalent in southern cities, mostly because immigrants are a sizeable part of the criminal community), education is more or less free, we're about as non-elitist as you get, we're one of the only countries who actually uphold our agreements when it comes to charity and carbon footprint reduction, socialism yay!

Health is taken care of. (very cheap and if you can't afford the symbolic charge then you can get a free card).

weapon laws are strict but fair. If you need it you can have it, if you don't then no gun for you, (if you're a hunter you can have hunting equipment, if you're a competition shooter then you can have a weapon designed for that, if you're in the military you can have military grade weaponry, if you're a civilian who just wants a deadly weapon then no gun for you).

all in all I'd say Norway qualifies. (I'm not saying we're perfect, there are loads of issues regarding all of these things, but all in all I'll make the claim that you will have a hard time finding someone closer to your list).

Most likely not Under socialism, incentives either play a minimal role or are ignored totally. A centrally planned economy without market prices or profits, where property is owned by the state, is a system without an effective incentive mechanism to direct economic activity. By failing to emphasize incentives, socialism is a theory inconsistent with human nature and is therefore doomed to fail. Socialism is based on the theory that incentives don't matter!

Sadly not , the only place i know is never land and that's fictional sadly. And everywhere is religion... however if you go exploring on a boat and find a new island that isn't on the map then you have found a place :D sorry id love half of those rules. :D

It would never happen. A place that could never exist. "First past the post" is a big turn off. Every idiot with an axe to grind would screw the whole nation.

That Utopia will never exist as long as human nature exists.
