I heard that he said America is not a Christian Country and he didn't want to offend anyone. I am not accusing, just wanted clarity.

This was one of those "incredible" moments that reflected badly on Obama.

Obama had made reference numerous times to the Islamic holy day of Ramadan and commented about how the call to "prayer" was the most beautiful "sound" in the world.

Yet, on this countries National Prayer Day, Obama claimed he did not have the "time" to even scratch out a simple, single sentence.

America may not be "Christian" as a religion, but nobody can deny, we were founded and have lived by Christian "ideals" of "Do not lie, Do not steal, Treat your neighbor as you would want to be treated", and so on.

Why some "people" still deny Obamas true faith as Muslim, escapes me. He has admitted it, has shown "adherence" to it and has embraced it over all other religions.

The one other "insult" to this country ? Obama LIED to the American public during his campaign, because he KNEW, a Muslim would NEVER have been elected. SO what should people think and believe about a POTUS who can so easily lie ?

The NDOP is an unconstitutional endorsement of religion because prayer is a religious practice that reflects certain theological doctrines not shared by all religions and certainly not be those who reject all religions. (Yes, not sure what these last types are about; even most atheists have strong opinions on religious questions. I suppose someone who rejects everything religious just watches TV and drinks beer all day?!) So if Obama is refusing to participate in the NDOP - which I would find very surprising since he is a zealous Christian himself and has been pandering to religious political extremists of every stripe - then it would be a refreshing and heartening thing.

This is not true.

http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/pra…

On April 15th a federal judge ruled in favor of a claim that a national call for a day of prayer was unconstitutional, but the Obama administration was the defendant in that case: *That means Obama was FOR -- not against -- the day of prayer.*

Besides, even if it is declared unconstitutional, how will that prevent you from praying? It's just saying that the government doesn't have the power to call for a national day of prayer

i think of you may desire to stop listening to those people who're mendacity to you. "the each and every year prayer experience became into created in 1952 via a joint decision of the US Congress, and signed into regulation via President Harry S. Truman. when you consider that then, all presidents have issued proclamations designating the nationwide Day of Prayer each and consistent with annum. final year, President Obama issued a proclamation designating the 1st Thursday of could because of fact the nationwide Day of Prayer, and prayed privately. inspite of the ruling, Obama nevertheless intends to correctly known the day this year on could 6."

False. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/05/06/obamas-decision-observe-national-day-prayer-privately-draws-public-criticism/

There was a proclamation, but no White House ceremony. For comparison, both Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush each hosted White House events for Prayer Day exactly once during their administrations, while George W. Bush had one every year. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Day_of_Prayer#Controversy

So far no president has held a White House ceremony for the National Day of Reason http://www.nationaldayofreason.org/

Actually, it is a judge that put the National Day of Prayer on ice; I would be surprised if the government appeals.

Well only for this reason because Its not all Christians and Christians Only that should be Praying to god, I mean include Jews, Buddhists, Hindus and Muslims they pray to god too so when He says "We are Not a Christian Nation Means Christianity is not the Only Faith Americans Pray to" Its time to fair to all other Faith and not just one, Wouldn't have to be Canceled If Americans we're more Accepting and Inclusive.

90% or more Americans are of the christian faith. So yes we are a christian nation. I don't know if stupid (I mean Obama) canceled it or not,but how can he cancel it if we choose to pray anyway? He'll be known in history as Obama the disgrace.

I wouldn't care if he did.

Anyone can pray anytime they want .

What is the point of having a national day of prayer ?

Prayer is a personal thing and it should stay that way!
