Turns out our Justice who "read" the Oath .. screwed up..
Read further..

Here is Oath Properly Syntaxed..
I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States.

Here is the exchange that took place between them...

ROBERTS: Are you prepared to take the oath, Senator?
OBAMA: I am.
ROBERTS: I, Barack Hussein Obama...
OBAMA: I, Barack...
ROBERTS: ... do solemnly swear...
OBAMA: I, Barack Hussein Obama, do solemnly swear...
ROBERTS: ... that I will execute the office of president to the United States faithfully...
OBAMA: ... that I will execute...
ROBERTS: ... faithfully the office of president of the United States...
OBAMA: ... the office of president of the United States faithfully...
ROBERTS: ... and will to the best of my ability...
OBAMA: ... and will to the best of my ability...
ROBERTS: ... preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.
OBAMA: ... preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.
ROBERTS: So help you God?
OBAMA: So help me God.
ROBERTS: Congratulations, Mr. President.

At the point this happened obviously, Obama was a bit shaken, him having actually memorized it correctly. I voted against him, but he did NOT screw up here..

So, even though I voted against OBAMA>.. It seems our Justice SCREWED UP>>>
Everyone Agree?

I realized that Obama screwed it up in 1 point, when he didn't wait for an adequate pause break but was in a rush to repeat it instead.

ROBERTS: I, Barack Hussein Obama...

OBAMA: I, Barack...

BUT. Mr. Justice did a lot more mistakes. Also he didn't memorize the7th line and when Obama failed to memorize the 8th line, he repeated it correctly, causing Obama repeat the first and false attempt. He also falsely memorized "President TO the United States", and "So help you, God?". Also SOME lawyers claim that, although not required, Obama should re-take the oath as soon as possible, as Calvin Coolidge and Chester A. Arthur did under similar circumstances.

Eh... either way it still means the same thing... whether you put the faithfully before or after... so it makes no difference to me.

And Roberts only screwed it up when he was repeating the line.. the first time he said it correctly..

ADD: reread your post... actually they both messed it up according to your properly syntaxed version... Roberts got it right the first time and then screwed up the second time... but still no difference in the meaning.

I didn't vote for him, I don't like him, but I can understand that it was really Roberts who got it wrong.

And to the person saying you can't reach out to the right and we're rooting for Obama's failures. That's BS. And the way some of you leftists have talked about Bush was a whole heck of a lot worse so STFU.

Um, actually he did screw up, big time. Stop being an apologetic worm. He's supposed to repeat exactly what he's read, and he failed to do that -- he wasn't "correcting" a thing, and the fact that the oath has the exact same meaning read either way just proves that. The word "finally" doesn't at all matter in the aspect of where in the sentence it's placed, that's ridiculous.

Let's just face it. He screwed up going ahead too anxiously at the very beginning of the oath, what makes you think he didn't just do the same thing again right after? Is this what people like you are going to do for Obama's entire disastrous term -- apologize for him and claim every mistake he makes is the fault of someone else? Especially if that someone else is an old white guy, am I right...

I didn't know it at the time because I guess I didn't know the oath off by heart. I just assumed Obama screwed it up.

But chief justice Roberts did apparently. Everyone's human. Maybe he shoulda used notes after all.

No... they said on the news that he opted to go without notes. I don't know if that's a fact, though.

You're absolutely right [obviously NOT for being a Right Winger, but in saying that]: It was ROBERTS that SCREWED IT UP, not Obama. You could even SEE the surprised expression on Obama's face when Roberts uttered the words in the WRONG order. ... He IS a "W" appointee, after all. lol

Oh, it doesn't mean anything, no matter whose fault it was.

I'm a loyal Obama supporter, but I chuckled a little when I saw it. It was funny.

By the time the speech ended, I'd already forgotten. Life goes on. Right or left, we love our nation, and it needs mending.

You are wasting your time reaching out to the right. They will be rooting for his failure. Just look at the number of posts that have emerged.

ADD.

That you have asked this question and can see that Supreme

Court Justice Roberts was the one who made the mistake, in my mind, does not make you the right that I am referring to.

You are probably the exception.
