The sum and substance of Mr varma’s recommendation is to strip powers of the Govt that are “the root cause of corruption”! Just like the Congress overnight dumped the socialistic regulations and brought in the capitalist economy in the name of ‘’Economic Reforms’’ in the 1990's, the critic here wants the Govt to shed whatever remaining power it still wields, in other than law and order or providing basic amenities to people!

http://in.news.yahoo.com/blogs/opinions/where-anna-hazare-gets-wrong-20110413-224657-743.html

Apart from the fact that such radical policy to strip govt of powers would not be easy and would only help to prolong the fight against corruption, there is more to the idea of more freedom in an unequal society. We had seen that the shift to free economy (aka: Reform) had already substantially freed the tariffs and brought in abundant FDIs etc and created the much hyped ‘’growth hikes’’ that had widened the economic gap among the population drastically.

Ironically, the spate of high level corruption had also escalated sky high after the herald of the "Economic Reforms", with what little ‘’exposures’’ have been made (with more to be exposed hopefully) and the total abandonement of power would only result in ''no holds barred'' in expoloitation of people! The exercise of power by legislation, courts or the executive can not be sacrificed in the name of breeding corruption. The empowerment of Lok Pal would not be ''one more power'' to increase corruption as sought to be made out by the critic!

The suggestion of the esteemed critic does not seem to be well meant, but to confuse people against Hazare’s movement! The way he mocks the name ''Anna'' appearing to be feminine to foreigners, etc also speak of the arrogance of the critic!

Ok, what is your thought on this trend among high profile critics, playing down the movement of Hazare, with intelligent arguments aimed at discrediting the crusade against corruption, Anna style?

As you know 74% of people occupying parliament are corrupt and does not want means of corruption removed by any bill . So they will employ all methods in their power to discredit Anna Hazare and the Lokpal bill. The congress which breeds corruption is in Power all throughthe 64 years of independence. Even when it is not the party in power it works through its officials in the ministries It is therefore essential for a bill which can take up with the corrupt IAS and allied cadre officers. there is group of high profile media persons who function as indirect propanda agents for congress and the dynasty. They will surely try to scuttle the bill. Every one wants a padma award for himself. Unless you sing the tune of congress no padma award for you.

The Anti corruption bill should be drafted by the people who ar not or have not been politicians .The members of the committee to be crested for drafting the bill should not also include lawyers as most of them would have appeared on behalf od corrupt people for the sake of the coolie they are paid .they are also corrupt people.

The committee to draft the bill should not have any Minister from the present Government .Because the very uprising against corruption arose because of the wrong doings of this government , the cabinet of which is fully responsible for the unprecedented scale of corruption. Including them in the committee is not different from appointing the accused themselves as members of the Jury or the judge .If there are any most unsuitable persons for inclusion in the Committee , they are the Minsters and members of the present ruling coterie .However ,no member of any other political party should also be included as they are also not free from similar accusations .

So the committee should be formed with members of the civil society entirely and the people of all status tainted by corruption can also submit their views on the proposed drafts if it is published for the comments of the public .All people from all walks of life including criminals , accused and tainted persons can present their views before the committee. The committee may be formed with some reputed and well known Supreme Court judge as chairman and the members may include a few retired government officials who are well known as honest officials , retired judges and members of the public such as journalists , teachers , social workers etc.The number of members selected from the category of non officials and non political parties should be more than the retired government officials ..No politician should the head or a member\er of the committee. The government should simply get the bill passed into law without tampering with any Provision. If the government is an obstruction , the people should vow to oust it in the very immediate election and see to it that none of the parties in alliance with the congress Government is elected to any legislative body.at any time in future .Mahatma Gandhi's wish to disband the congress party should be achieved first if corruption from public life is to be eradicated .That party is the Grand (Bharat)Ma of corruption..

What Mr Amith Verma has penned down is one aspect of the issue. He has plausibly brought out the malaise faced by entrepreneurs & others on account of outdated & unwieldy sarkari-controls.

No doubt that the corruption is the result of over-bureaucratization of government controls & scrutinies, These bureaucratic whips are therefore the real venomous tissues in our national economic life. An instance mentioned by Amith Verma, where a hotelier to start a new hotel is supposed to procure 150 or so odd licenses/ approvals is a amazingly interesting.

But that is only one side of the whole issue of corruption. Bureaucrats & politicians are, obviously, earning their greed out of this complex maze of power controls. The discretion to pick & choose these controls in favour or against people or corporate is basic cause of political greed. To get Power by the use of money & then get rich by the use of this Power has been brought to a self sustained mode of political practice by most of the political outfits small or big. Anna Hazare has hit bang on target by making this greed sensibly unprofitable. His movement is a step to break away from the typical political jinx that the nation finds itself trapped in.

Provision of immediate cognizance to complaints instead of long drawn out debates in the parliaments ; to fast track the court proceedings instead of overloaded hesitant judicial proceedings ; to substantially enhance the punishments for those found guilty .....are enough to benumb the bravest of the braves.

People like Mr Amith Verma would do well to contribute & strengthen the propitious movement.

Go ahead to analyse & suggest on the subtle nuances of candor & transparency ( instead of mischievous Numerical contest scores) to electing a tall, forthright & apolitical person for the elevated office of Nation's Lokpal within the precincts of democracy & so on, instead of reflecting on the momentum of the expectations of the citizens that has been generated by the movement.

Everybody is good unless he is caught.. So, they take care hereafter not to be caught directly.First let the govt. change the currency and will be exchanged with what the people have with them by new currency .... all the black money will come out or will be destroyed or could be distributed among the needy by the black money holders..then social equality will be seen..I think the govt will not take such bold decision because the members of legislature are with black money..so they don't make such laws which are useful to the public.. They increase their salaries.

when they come to politics that they work for the people, why should they be paid for . Mahatma Gandhi and Nehru did not work for the salary or for pension. The so called gandhians atleast now come forward not to take the salary but work for the public..let us vote for such people

Obviously a group of evil geniuses in journalism have been hired to discredit the movement of Hazare! The suggestion of Amith Varma is a diabolical argument without doubt!

Corruption is not bred by power, but power plus, the plus is greed, a lack of commitment to high values in public life! So the critic is misleading us to believe that the disease is there because a susceptible organ is there! Did not Cho say in his play "Md Bin Tuglak", the best way to root out corruption was to ''legalise'' it! Even a court said like that recently in desperation! That was crude expression of helplessness to solve the malady! But Varma feigns to be logical and throws a ''loaded'' statement that means ''more'' than what it says, as you had rightly hinted!

The globalisation policy itself was a mask under bait of sharing hi tech info with less developed countries, but actually aimed at uncontrolled access to their markets to sipon off their wealth! Like that the political critics are baling out mischivous suggestions in the form of ''wise'' commentary to change the course of the movement to serve ulterior interests!

Lalu's party (RJD) is already supporting UPA from the outside. So where's the question of getting into good books of Congress?!? The issue was debated extensively in the Parliament. Lalu claimed that the "Minority" word was there in the bill compiled by the Standing committee alongwith SC/ST/OBC/Women...and later removed, he accused, at the behest of BJP.

He seems as a person inspired by Sibbal.

This Anna Movement revolves around the enactment of a more meaningful strong JLP Bill /Act than the LP Bill proposed by the Govt and not to re-establish / overhaul the entire system..

However though decentralisation is okey, but that is another matter / issue than that of JLP Bill.

Hence I would feel not bad by turning down his criticism.

We have sound system &procedure in place to eliminate corruption. For example,in 2G Spectrum scam established procedure &system is violated wantonly and collective responsibility is not fixed.Only action needed is to enforce strictly the extent procedure. In Regional Transport Office &Registration office corruption is maximum due to non-transparency of procedure &documents require to be produced.Public should be educated through transparency. Therefore, Mr.Verma s comment is not appreciable.

Judiciaries should be effective only hundred percent to drive out all sorts of corruption if this is easiest and non expensive to use by all kinds of people. So judiciaries should be flourished and improved at the rate of beyond all other administrative machinaries.

There are umpteenbills in India, which are not/cannot be enforced. good paperwork.

this bill was prepared in 1977....so passing it after 34 yeras is suddenly not going to change any thing.

as if criminals are waiting for the bill to be passed, to abandon crime !
