Apart from the fact that such radical policy to strip govt of powers would not be easy and would only help to prolong the fight against corruption, there is more to the idea of more freedom in an unequal society. We had seen that the shift to free economy (aka: Reform) had already substantially freed the tariffs and brought in abundant FDIs etc and created the much hyped ‘’growth hikes’’ that had widened the economic gap among the population drastically.
Ironically, the spate of high level corruption had also escalated sky high after the herald of the "Economic Reforms", with what little ‘’exposures’’ have been made (with more to be exposed hopefully) and the total abandonement of power would only result in ''no holds barred'' in expoloitation of people! The exercise of power by legislation, courts or the executive can not be sacrificed in the name of breeding corruption. The empowerment of Lok Pal would not be ''one more power'' to increase corruption as sought to be made out by the critic!
The suggestion of the esteemed critic does not seem to be well meant, but to confuse people against Hazare’s movement! The way he mocks the name ''Anna'' appearing to be feminine to foreigners, etc also speak of the arrogance of the critic!
Ok, what is your thought on this trend among high profile critics, playing down the movement of Hazare, with intelligent arguments aimed at discrediting the crusade against corruption, Anna style?
