SSI and SSDI disability are federal programs. You automatically become eligible for Medicare after 2 years on SSDI disability. Most states allow Medicaid benefits for SSI
Medicare is also a federal program. Medicaid is a state program. You can only get Medicare under age 65 if the federal Social Security Administration has awarded you a disability claim. States can offer Medicaid to people with low income, limited assets they determine disabled, even if SSA has not.

There are 2 types of disability checks if you become unable to work because of injury or a condition. SSI & SSDI. SSI comes with Medicaid and SSDI comes with Medicare. SSDI comes with medicare 2 years after your first check, and SSI comes with Medicaid usually pretty instantly. Unless your of retirement age, 65, or on SSDI, you wont get Medicare yet.
