At times like this ignorance is high, and education upon facts is low. Please people, learn something. Russia isn't "invading" anything, they're defending south ossetian for the sake that 1. There's a lot of Russian Civilians there, 2. There's a lot of innocent people there. 3. As Medvedev and the G8, U.N., and OSCE agreed, it's considered diplomatic aide and helping of the innocent. However you can criticize against Russia for having attacked some civilian areas in Georgia, but it's in acts of defense rather than offense. The majority of soldiers there are U.N. Russian peacekeepers.

Moreover, Georgia hasn't been a "good boy" either. After agreeing to a ceasefire woth Russia and South Ossetia, on 7 August Georgia still launched a surprise military operation to take the town of Tskhinvali, the capital of the unrecognised Republic of South Ossetia (a breakaway region of Georgia). Not to mention that peacekeepers and the Red Cross are trying to evacuate civilians and wounded from the hospitals and living area's to avoid casualities to North Ossetia, and Georgia agreed to cease fire again, however they still continue and they have killed many innocent and destroyed at least a couple hospitals themselves through continued artillery and air strikes which they agreed to stop from both cease fires they "lied" to. Hence, it's also quite hard for Russia to cease fire causing innocent casualties in Georgia as well trying to take out military targets. Which is why now more diplomatic aide is being requested by the G8, OSCE, and U.N. for not only reassurance to cease fire and come to peace, but also to remove the innocent civilians from both sides as things are getting worse.

I'm actually with Russia on this one. South Ossetia breaking away from Georgia is like Kosovo breaking away from Serbia. I fully support both movements. South Ossetia wanted aid from Russia, and they got it. Georgia should seriously just give up south ossetia.

Georgia stiked the south ossetian region and russia defend south ossetia. South ossetia wants indepence just like kosovo wanted indepence. It is the same thing that happened with the US and kosovo. Continuing on to my point, Georgia knew that russia was going to defend ossetia but they attacked anyway. Russia had troops built up on the border. Georgia is trying to start ww3 by assuming the Us will get into the conflict as well. They attack ossetia because they assumed the US would help, simply because russia is the "enemy". The is the first time sense ww2 that russia has been right in declaring war.

It's not Russia that is the problem but the USA and Israel, again...

The creation of the conflict in Georgia is intended to block Russia from materially supporting IRAN during the impending invasion.

Israeli military advisors were involved with the Georgian offensive against South Ossetia {pop 70,000}.

On 14th July Georgian & US troops started a joint military exercise.

The OSSETIANS speak ossetic, an Iranian language. They're descended from Iranian tribes of Eurasia.

They became CHRISTIANS during the early middle ages.

From 1922 Ossetia was part of the USSR.

Many of them would have Russian passports. Unlike Kosovo, the US will not support an independent South Ossetia. No need to ask why the US media is so biased on this issue then !!

So much western propaganda filled your opinion.

Do you know what really is going on?

Georgia is the aggressor here ... with the approval of their boss the U.S. of course. Georgia launched the attack on South Ossetia did not want to be a part of Georgia. Which is why you saw photo of South Ossetia tanks burning on the street of South Ossetia!

This move is clearly another step of the U.S. trying to expand influence in that region. Russia would not tolerant Georgia aggression against South Ossetia...

P.S. Georgia is one of the puppies of the U.S. who is used to expand U.S. control in that area.

More propaganda please. You got opposite completely on who attacked who first.

Fascists on yahoo-answers?

Only fascists want to wipe someone off.

Saakashvilli, Georgian president, is one of them. You are the same.

The first thing that should be done - fighting should be stopped. It will stop in next few days. Russia will help it, because Georgian forces don't stop themselfs. When the bullets will stop flying - Russia, Georgia and all other countries will decide what to do.

So far Russia hasn't actually invaded Georgia.

What has happened is that an ethnic people in one part of Georgia have told their government that they want autonomy, and the government has said no and sent in the troops. They then asked Russia for protection, and Russia responded.

America did this in Kosovo and with the Kurds in Iraq, why shouldn't Russia do this in Georgia?

I hope the *******they do nothing!!!

Georgia attacked a breakaway state of their own. Been bombing and shelling the cities in South Ossetia for a week and nobody noticed. Ossetia is of a different ethnic group than Georgia, many of it's people are Russians and the economy is supported by Russia. The Ossetians were fleeing into Russia to escape the bombing by Georgia.

A week later Russia fought back on the behalf of Ossetia and now it's a crisis. Nobody could care two hoots before if Georgia went on shelling the Russians who make up the majority of Ossetia.

Just because it's Russia and people think it is the evil empire the world is all agog. Georgia started it.

Russia now's not greater or below a toybear yet some human beings in basic terms can no longer circulate away properly on my own and function taken up undergo baiting as some variety of pastime with encouragement from the west of direction, like Condi Rice. Russia had each justification for invading Georgia and it has no longer something to do with the west except they have been the instigators.

Just facts: Russia did not initiate military action. Georgia's forces has bombed and destroyed the region's capital and 1400 civilians in just the 1st day. There can be no justification for that. DO NOT forget this point. For the rest, see the videos below.

Russia under Putin seems to be just as mischievous as when it was the Soviet Union under Stalin. What Putin seems to want to do is to re-create the Russian empire that used to exist, and take control again of those oppressed peoples that used to be part of the USSR, like Ukraine, Lithuania, Latvia. Estonia. Bellorussia, Kazakhstan etc. Taking over Georgia will give them a stranglehold over world gas prices and enable them to blackmail the EU and other western states including USA and Canada. It is significant that the excuse announced by the Russian propaganda media for bombing the interior of independent Georgia, and murdering hundreds of innocent Georgian civilians miles away from south Ossetia, sound remarkably similar to the excuses enunciated by Hitler for his invasions of Poland, Czechoslovakia and Austria before the outbreak of World War II? Yes I think you are right Russia will be at the centre of another war in the near future.

Are you talking about US here? You are very right! Why US has a right to invade Iraq, Afganistan....Vietnam? Who on earth gave them a right to come and LIE to the UN just to start a war in Iraq?

There should be someone to stop this crap. Georgia-Osetia conflict is just a reflection of AGRESSIVE approach of US goverment in the world.
