Okay. Having an argument with my liberal brainwashed father and despite all the "Republican made" graphs I'm presenting to him he INSIST that we had NO national debt when Clinton left office, and he's also insisting that I ask it on Yahoo Answers.. So folks. What was the national debt when Clinton left office?

Mr Clinton halved the U.S. National Debt, he did so with the cooperation of Republicans in Congress. It may be worth remembering Mr Clinton also more or less ended Welfare in the form it had existed before he came to Office. So America's disadvantaged Citizens bore a heavy burden of Government Spending Cuts.

It is easy to google it up but yes he had a debt they raided the SS account they also had the ''cold war advantage'' they were able to close many military bases thanks to the man who said ''I don't want to contain them I want to destroy them as they are an evil empire'' President Reagan

As an aside the liberals were enraged that President Reagan was running up the national debt putting up ''debt clocks'' in major cities
