Hi everyone, I want your opinions. I'm writing a paper, and would like to hear from you. What do you believe are the top problems/hurdles that America will face in the near future (i.e. next 10 years). The problems should be things we as Americans can overcome if we take the proper steps, so i'm not looking for "acts of god". I'm looking for problems with National Defense/Homeland Security, Government Finances, Banking/Investment Problems, HealthCare Problems, Immigration Problems, Civil Unrest, etc..... I'm interested in what you all think, in general there are a lot of very intelligent people on here...

Thanks...

The single biggest problem facing U.S. America is it's bloated military budget. The USA spends more on it's military than the next 30 biggest spending counties combined. None of those 30 countries have any problems defending their borders or national interests while spending just a tiny fraction of which the USA spends.

First of all buy the book "Commen Sense" by Glenn Beck. Get over the Beck recommendation and it's actually a good easy read with what is wrong with government today. He pretty well rips both parties so its not a left vs right book.

I think the biggest problem in America today is the way government is run. Not so much the social issue aspect,;IE: Health care, but the size and the inefficiencies of government in their scale.

Government Service has become a business which it was never meant to be. When you have lifer Congressmen being paid by lifer lobbyist you have a bunch of people who no longer represent the people.

We have too many people defending special interest groups instead of defending the Constitution which is their #1 priority.

The second thing is our debt.

We are quickly reaching the point where our debt will be unsustainable. We are facing huge interest rates, and times will be worse then when the depression hit.

Not in any particular order: 1) Education. It sucks and needs to be fixed. 2) The economy. It sucks and needs to be fixed. 3) Religious fanatics. Need to quit voting their mortality into our secular laws. 4) Social problems like racism, sexism, homophobia, and the like. We need to learn to get along and stfu. 5) The growing gap between the classes. Whether or not people admit it, we have/are developing a class hierarchy and us people at the bottom are getting screwed.
