True, but it has to be proven that they are the source and they are entitled to a trial by a jury of their peers.

apparently it's true but given that the government reveals most of its secrets by hiring illegal immigrants and immigrants of questionable loyalty to work in sensitive positions and since it has failed to keep personal data secured and has lost computers and goods and has billions of dollars unaccounted for, why doesn't the government prosecute itself for its own failure? We've managed to lose extremely sensitive data, let it fall into the hands of enemies, and we have so many illegal immigrants and sons and daughters of illegal immigrants working in government positions that everyone except the people who should have the information is able to get it.

TRUE!
Government secrets would reveal the truth which is the last thing they want us to know.

true, but like all laws there are many loopholes. A reporter could say something secret but then they would try to make the reporter disclose their sources, other laws prohibit the reporter from showing sorces because it may hinder free speach.
I hope they do legislate it so that they cannot report secrets, this is how the enemy gets free intel.

Everyone except for the president can be prosecuted for revealing govt. secrets.
The president just "declassifies" the material and then it's no longer a "secret".
I think that has happened with Bush if I'm not mistaken.

true?
EDIT - it should be true. But probably reporters have freedom of the press which allows them to report government secrets - like Geraldo giving away the location of our troops on live tv. So I guess I change my answer to false.

i am gonna guess false.
the reason behind this guess is i recall reading in the constitutional ammendments that senators and house of representatives can only be brought up on charges by their respective houses and not the public. therefore, before they could be prosecuted they would have to be dismissed by their respective houses.
of course, this answer could be entirely wrong.
