How destructive to this nation will this be?

While acknowledging that the recession makes the political battle more difficult, President Obama plans to begin addressing the country’s immigration system this year, including looking for a path for illegal immigrants to become legal, a senior administration official said on Wednesday.

THE PRIMARY REASON THE DEMOCRATS ARE PUSHING FOR LEGALIZING THE ILLEGALS IS THAT IT WILL GIVE THEM COMPLETE CONTROL OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT SINCE ABOUT 75% OF THE ILLEGALS WHO BECOME LEGAL AND AMERICAN CITIZENS WILL VOTE DEMOCRATIC. IT WILL MEAN THE END OF THE TWO PARTY SYSTEM AND THE BEGINNING OF A ONE PARTY SYSTEM. THIS AGAIN SHOWS JUST HOW BAD A PRESIDENT OBAMA IS.

No need to shout. Yes, Democrats love immigrants because most newly-naturalized immigrants vote Democratic (more than 75%. More like 90%).

But Republicans love them too because they work cheap. A big, ready pool of immigrant labor lowers wages for -all- workers. And cheap labor is what the GOP is all about.

Remember, the last amnesty for illegals was under Reagan. GW Bush wanted to come up with another path for illegals to become legal and stay.

Very destructive.

Once they are all given legal status, the cheap labor will be gone. Employers will be forced to pay them the same as any other American citizen. Alot will lose their jobs when the next batch of illegals come across the border to take their place providing the cheap labor the dishonest employers want. We have have millions more on the public dole when they are no longer able to work but are now legal in this country.

And we gotta get them all legal in time for the 2010 election and census.

I think it's a mistake to assume that illegals will support Democrats. Republicans need to look to avenues that they can recruit them, and their is one: religion. Most illegals are Hispanic, and most Hipsanics are Roman Catholic. I know several illegals, they tell me if they could vote, they'd vote Republican. If Republicans were the party that catered to them, through guest worker policies and such, they would get their support. We had this chance under Bush, and it failed. Illegals that come here to work are really the embodiment of the Republican worth ethic: personal responsibility, to each his own.

Another thing Republicans need to stop doing is believing that all illegals are criminals beyond coming here illegally, stop being racist towards them, and stop believing that we can just deport them all and the problem will go away. Once we get real, we can take advantage of this situation.

Only 4 - 5% of the population is illegal immigrants, so it wouldn't necessarily be a huge impact on voting.

That's true but I think revolution will strike during this and god knows what will happen after that.
